Severn School, MD

A former Division I basketball player, Army veteran, and longtime Maryland coach, Demetrius Ballard took the helm of Severn’s football program determined to reignite its winning tradition. After eight successful years at Archbishop Spalding, Ballard brought his leadership, energy, and community-minded approach to Severn—transforming the Admirals into back-to-back conference champions and MIAA playoff contenders. Known for his emphasis on character, connection, and player development, Ballard has reestablished Severn as a proud and competitive program while strengthening ties with local youth football.

Joe Walker serves as Defensive Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator at Severn School. A former college player and Air Force veteran, he brings more than 20 years of coaching experience to Coach Ballard's staff. He is one of the points of contact for college coaches seeking film, transcripts, or evaluations on Severn prospects.
